GoGoDragons

Dragons are Go Go!   We are delighted to announce that this year we are supporting BREAK & the Go Go Dragons! Thanks to Wild in Art Dragons have invaded the streets of Norwich this year with 84 individually designed truly unique models popping up all over our fine city. We were kindly asked to help support this great cause & concoct  an ice cream to cool these dragons’ flames as well as raise some money for BREAK & bring a smile to our customers’ faces! Having put our heads together we decided to make a lovely traditional Knickerbocker Glory Ice Cream, sure to be a favourite of Knicker Bocker Gloria, the dragon designed by Peter & Jayne Smith & sponsored by the good people of Bluebird Care. You can find this special flavour on our Ice Cream barrow on London Street, Norwich as well as at many of the Norwich events we cover during the summer. Each ice cream sold will make a donation so we are hoping it proves really popular & we can help BREAK change some young lives for the better. So please stop by our barrow on your way round the dragon trail for tasty way to support a good cause. You can get involved on twitter @gogodragons2015 or #ggd2015 Read all about our link up with the Go Go Dragons thanks to the...

Kiwi Sorbet

Kiwi Sorbet

Kiwi Sorbet In the lead up to Valentines Day we receive lots of phone calls from chefs asking for unusual flavours for their special menus. One of the flavours we made this year is a particular favourite of mine & is a good illustration of the techniques that make our ice creams & sorbets so special hence this short blog. The first thing once we had sourced our Kiwi fruit (unfortunately they were not locally grown!) was to prepare them, our customer required 10lts of sorbet so we set about paring 100 kiwis, that’s 10 Kiwis in every litre of sorbet to give it real natural flavour & colour. The Kiwi is then blended & added to syrup of water, sugars & natural pectin to give it body. The mixture is then churned & frozen down to around -5, packed into tubs & frozen further down to -22Deg C. And there you have it, no artificial flavours, colours or overcomplicated processes just a delicious sorbet bursting with natural flavour &...

Time Out in Lisbon

Time Out in Lisbon

After the busy summer season there is always a bit of a scramble to get out on holiday & recharge the batteries. During my break I visited the bustling Mercado da Ribera to eat at the Time Out Food Hall in Lisbon , Portugal. The hall boasts some fine restaurant stands & Deli style stalls where you can enjoy anything from a quick ice cream to a three course meal with wine. We were incredibly impressed with the quality of the food,  & with dishes between 4-10 euros it was certainly reasonable. No trip would be complete for me without sampling the local Ice Cream & as luck would have it Lisbon Ice Cream institution Santinis have a stand here. The set up & service from their team of scoopers was very impressive with a team of four; one to take your order & payment & the other three serving a choice of ten classic flavours into cones & tubs. You can check out their website here , they offer home delivery which is something that we have been considering for a while & would love to know your thoughts...
